Workshop and Sample Sale Idea - Pt.1
Been thinking how to do something in real life but with less barriers to entry. The main focus of this event was the upcycling workshop where all you needed to bring was an old garment to give new life for free!
We were fully booked from 12-8:30 on both days and had people doing walk ins too. I reckon we did around 300 prints in total 😮
Main point of this was to build access and make people feel welcome in real life. No money needed, just a waste garment or flat object. Guests chose from a selection of screens made for the weekend and then learned how to screen print onto their piece/pieces.
The sample sale was cool too! Was great for people to see and own our works in progress. Clothes don’t go from idea to perfect final garment in one go. But the iterations that build up the final often turn out quite nice so it was wicked that people appreciated the imperfections and peculiar fabric choices.
